Facebook

Room 6 has a facebook page. This is another way in which we want to connect with the world. So far we have  a small, core group of friends. If you would like to be our friend just click on the picture above.

Racecourse Recounts

We've all been writing Racecourse recounts and posting them on our blogs.

The following can be viewed on Damien's blog: http://csdamienwi.blogspot.co.nz/

On Thursday Room 6 went to the Races. First we watched a race then went downstairs to ride a pony. We got to learn what the race horses eat and got to try some of the food. Next  we got to pat the ponies and brush them. After that we  got to ride a pony. That was cool! Next we went upstairs and Bret gave us a book and a plastic horse. I know we had a good time.

Damien has also made some great posts about other school events.

The Amazing Races

On Thursday 3rd February, Room 6 went to the races, it was awesome. Bret, the manager, showed us around.
First we went to the celebrity lounge and that’s where Bret introduced himself. He told us some information about the racecourse, then we watched the first race. “And away they go,” everyone shouted. Number seven took the lead, no wait, number six is catching up. Six was now in the lead heading towards the finish line. Number 6 known as Dashing Dottie has won, announced race commentator Mike O’Sullivan. “Hooray for Number Six,” we all shouted.

Art in Room 5

This term we are swapping teachers for 45 minutes every Tuesday and Thursday. Mr Waite takes Room 5 for sport while Ms Whitwell takes Room 6 for Art, this plays to each teachers individual strengths.  Here is the fruits of our labour with Ms Whitwell!

Buddy Class

On February 3rd, Room 3 came to Room 6 and we spent some time getting to know each other.  We took Room 3 on to the computer and showed them how to copy and paste information and how to open and save a document in MSWord. After we had finished we spent some time on Knowledge Adventure.

Room 6 at the Races

On Thursday, February 1st, Room 6 went to the races at the Wanganui Racecourse.  We saw 4 races and were treated like royalty throughout.  We had our own lounge where we could watch the races.  We also spent time in the Commentator's Box, the Trackside truck and behind the scenes at the T.A.B tote. Our host for the day was Brett, the Manager of the Racecourse who also introduced us to leading jockey, Lisa Allpress. To top it off we also got free iceblocks, erasers and magazines.
